Sensation is the raw sensory inputs that reach to the central nervous system (CNS) through neurons. For an example, if a person sees an object, then the eyes inform the brain that particular object is large or small, smooth or rough. The brain then consults to the memories about the sensory inputs which creates a perception or interpretation about the objects.
