Introduction:

Transpiration is the process of uptake of carbon dioxide from the surroundings that results in loss of water from the same openings. The loss of water and the process of photosynthesis peaks at the same time during the overhead position of the sun. Thus many plants have evolved a mechanism to reduce transpiration rates and to suppress photorespiration.
