Chapter 27.8, Problem 2MQ
Summary Introduction
In immunofluorescence techniques, antibodies consisting of conjugated fluorescent dyes (fluorescent antibodies) can be used for the detection of antigens on intact cells. These fluorescent antibodies are widely involved in the diagnostic and research purposes. The fluorescent antibody staining techniques can be a direct or indirect method. In the direct method, antibodies interacting with antigens are covalently attached to the fluorescent dyes. In the indirect method, the nonfluorescent primary antibodies present on the cell surface are detected by fluorescent secondary antibodies directed against nonfluorescent primary antibodies.
