The advantage of using coil with many turns in Faraday’s experiment increases the values of the quantities to be experimentally measured.

Explanation of Solution

From the experiment shown in the Figure 29-1, Faraday concluded that a constant magnetic field does not produce current in the conductor, but a changing magnetic field can produce a current, this current is known as induced current. And also changing magnetic field induces an emf.

From the Faraday’s law, write the expression for induced emf if the circuit contains N number of loops.

    ε=NdΦdt        (I)

Here, ε is the induced emf, N is the number of loops, and Φ is the flux.

Write the expression for induced current.

    I=εR        (II)

Here, I is the induced current, and R is the resistance.

Use equation (I) in (II).

    I=NRdΦdt        (III)

Equation (I) and (III) shows that, the induced emf and therefore induced current are proportional to number of turns.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the advantage of using coil with many turns in Faraday’s experiment increases the values of the quantities to be experimentally measured.
