Question
Chapter 29, Problem 5A
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Slime mold or slime mold is an informal name to different type of unrelated eukaryotic organisms that are able to live freely as single cells. They are able to form an aggregate and reproduce together. Slime molds were classified as fungi but they are no longer considered part of that kingdom. Mainly slime molds exist as single-celled organisms. They feed on other microbes as food material that live in any type of dead plant material. They also contribute in the decomposition of dead vegetation, feed on bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. This is the main reason why they are no longer considered as fungi but as protozoa.
