Carbon is an essential nutrient required by all living organism as it is found in nucleic acids, proteins and carbohydrates. Atmosphere contains various gases including carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. Various forms of carbon are stored in various reservoirs. Oceans include huge quantities of organic matter and thus it is the major reservoir in the carbon cycle. Fossil fuels are also obtained from the deeper part of the earth which contains great amount of carbon material.
