Introduction: Fungi are classified under five main groups that are: chytridiomycetes, zygomycetes, glomeromycetes, ascomycetes, and basidiomycetes. Each group is considered as separate phyla. All these groups differ in their characteristics and life cycle. Some of them reproduce sexually while other reproduce only asexually. The earliest fungal ancestors are chytrids and they all share common ancestry which is flagellated protists.
