Question
Chapter 3, Problem 10E.3RQ
Summary Introduction
To determine: The specific diagnostic value of this staining procedure.
Introduction: Acid-fast staining is a differential staining technique and it was developed initially by Ziehl. Later on, it was modified by Neelsen. Hence, this method is also known as Ziehl-Neelsen staining techniques. Acid-fast staining is widely used to differentiate acid-fast groups and non-acid fast groups. Mycobacterium is an acid-fast bacterium that exhibits about 60% of the acid-fast cell wall.
