Introduction: Financial accounting can be defined as field associated with accounting wherein money is treated as a means for evaluating the performance of the economy and not as a factor of production. It comprises of a system of scrutinizing and management of money as it moves in and out of the business establishment in the form of expenses, revenue, liabilities and assets. The historical foundation is the efficient operation of organization by managers, accounting information required by the investor and banker for making investment decisions and for assessment of taxes by taxing authorities in an equitable way. The historical base of financial accounting came into picture when investor and banker thought of the need for the accounting information in order to take investment decisions. Since it became difficult for the lender to identify the asset that is backing up their loans, therefore a practical method is required to summarize the value associated with the asset held by them. A method through which income can be expressed is also needed so as to ascertain valuable information about the profit earned by the company. Similarly, the government also requires the information for assessing and imposing tax on companies and individuals. Therefore, in order to serve the said purpose of different stakeholders the need arises for the statement of finance which can be prepared by the accountants and reviewed by the auditor to ensure its accuracy.
