Concept explainers
To explain: The reason for the object in motion slows down and comes to a stop.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
According to the Newton’s first law of motion, an object will remain at rest or uniform motion until an external force will exert on it. This law is also called the law of inertia.
The inertia of object is a resistance force and oppose all internal disturbance which can change the state of object, so due to inertia the object will remain at rest of uniform motion until an external force will not introduced.
When an external force is applied on the object then the motion of object will slow down and then come in rest due to the property of inertia.
Conclusion:
Hence, the object in motion slows down and comes to a stop because of property of inertia.
