Introduction: The passive movement of molecules from the area of higher concentration to the area of lower concentration is referred to as diffusion. Diffusion takes place in order to reach the state of equilibrium.
Explanation of Solution
Initially, solution A must have more solutes when compared to that of solution B. As a result, water gets moved from side B to side A across the selectively permeable membrane through osmosis. Thus, the fluid level on side A gets increased. The diffusion of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane is known as osmosis. In this state, the movement of water molecules occurs toward the higher concentration of the solute as it is where the water concentration is found to be lower. This occurs until the complete elimination of the concentration gradient.
