Chapter 3, Problem 3.8PP
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The difference between a nonmetal atom and its anion.
Introduction:
Nonmetals are defined as elements that do not display the properties of metals. The nonmetals are mostly located on the right hand side of the periodic table. Hydrogen is the exception that behaves as a nonmetal at the room temperature and pressure. At high pressure, it behaves as an alkali metal. The anion of the nonmetal is formed when one or more electrons are added to the nonmetals.

Isopropanol is a liquid at room temperature. It is dangerous to heat volatile liquids over a Bunsen burner, so you skip that step.
Based on these observations, is isopropanol an ionic or molecular compound?
