Chapter 3, Problem 3DID
Summary Introduction

To explain: The place where the CFTR protein is held up in the cells of CF-affected patient.

Introduction: Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) is a plasma membrane transport protein encoded by the gene CFTR. CFTR protein is present in a few copies in the people affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). Thus, the amount of chloride ions and water that leave the cell become very less. This results in thick, dry mucus and the airways to the lungs get clogged. Chronic lung infections and difficulty in breathing are some of the symptoms associated with CF.

A tadpole matures into a frog, and its tail gradually disappears completely because some organelle may change during the life cycle of a cell. Identify the role of various organelles as the tadpole changes into a frog.
Cells that line your intestines are specialized for nutrient absorbtion and are known to possess numerous membrane proteins that transport small molecules and ions across the plasma membrane. Which of the following cell structures would you expect to be required for this function of the cells? The endoplasmic reticulum Lysosomes Peroxisomes or Cell walls
"Which of the following cell processes depend on the movement of membrane components and would not be possible if membranes were rigid, nonfluid structures?"     cell movement     cell division     cell eating (phagocytosis) or cell drinking (pinocytosis)     all of the given are not possible with rigid nonfluid structures.
