Chapter 3, Problem 3DYKB
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Enzymes are biomolecules that are regarded as similar to the catalyst in inorganic chemical reactions. Just like catalysts regulate the speed of inorganic reactions, in a similar way, enzymes regulate the speed of a biological reaction by lowering the barrier of activation energy. This is the reason due to which enzymes are called biocatalysts.

Which ONE of the following would be most effective as a feedback mechanism for anenzymatic reaction? A. Reduced concentration of the product B. A change in pH C. Increased concentration of substrate D. Temporary binding of a non-substrate molecule in the active binding site
All of the following increase enzymatic activity except a. an increase in temperature. b. an increase in pH. c. an increase in concentration of the substrate. d. an increase in concentration of the enzyme that catalyzes the reaction.
As you change the temperature from a low temperature to a high temperature what happens to the rate of an enzymatic reaction, in general terms?   A The reaction rate will steadily increase as the temperature increases.   B The reaction rate will steadily decrease as the temperature increases.   C The reaction rate will start low, then increase, and then decrease again as the temperature increases.   D The reaction rate will not change as the temperature increases.
