The determined Wile E. Coyote is out once more to try to capture the elusive roadrunner. The coyote wears a new pair of power roller skates, which provide a constant horizontal acceleration of 15.0 m/s2, as shown in Figure P3.59. The coyote starts off at rest 70.0 m from the edge of a cliff at the instant the roadrunner zips in the direction of the cliff, (a) If the roadrunner moves with constant speed, find the minimum speed the roadrunner must have to reach the cliff before the coyote. (b) If the cliff is 1.00 × 102 m above the base of a canyon, find where the coyote lands in the canyon. (Assume his skates are still in operation when he is in “flight” and that his horizontal component of acceleration remains constant at 15.0 m/s2.)

- In a scene from a classic cartoon, a hungry coyote is chasing a roadrunner, as shown in the figure below. To aid in his quest, he has donned a pair of ACME brand rocket-propelled roller skates. The skates accelerate the coyote at 11.0 m/s² in the horizontal direction. The roadrunner is moving at a constant speed toward a cliff. The coyote is initially at rest 65.0 m from the cliff at the instant the roadrunner moves past him. (In all questions below, assume right is the positive x-direction and up is the positive y-direction. Also assume you can apply real-world physics principles, as opposed to "cartoon physics.") BEEP ВЕЕР (a) What minimum constant speed (in m/s) must the roadrunner have to reach the cliff before the coyote does? m/s The roadrunner suddenly turns at the edge of the cliff, while the coyote continues straight ahead. The coyote's skates remain horizontal and continue to operate while he is in flight, so his acceleration while in the air is (11.01 - 9.80ĵ) m/s². - A fly ball is hit to the outfield during a baseball game. Let's neglect the effects of air resistance on the ball. The motion of the ball is animated in the simulation (linked below). The animation assumes that the ball's initial location on the y axis is yo = 1 m, and the ball's initial velocity has components v0x = 20 m/s and voy = 20 m/s.
