“Yes”, universities should be allowed to monitor email sent and received using on university computers.
Although E-mail monitoring has been criticized for invading student’s privacy, Universities should still monitor them for the following reasons:
- E-mail monitoring is legal in universities as all universities have their Technology acceptable use policy in which the universities maintains the right to access all employee and student accounts and uses in university computers.
- E-mail monitoring is mostly used in certain cases such as breaking university regulations or state and federal law.
- The universities should have the policy publicized well enough which would prevent students from sending or receiving unnecessary emails which breaks universities internet use regulations...
