Introduction:
In 1839, cell theory was proposed by Theodor Schwann and Matthias Schleiden. Basic tenets of the cell theory are as follows: (i) all living organisms, from simple (e.g. bacteria) to complex (e.g. human), are made up of cells (one or more) and its products. (ii) Cells are regarded as the simplest unit (structural and functional) of life. (iii) Cells are made only from previously existing cells.
