Concept explainers
The reason behind the power of the sun.
Answer to Problem 1OQ
Solution:
The sun is powered by nuclear fusion.
Explanation of Solution
Nuclear fusion is defined as a reaction in which two or more smaller nuclei come close together to form a heavier nucleus. In nuclear fusion, a large amount of energy is required.
The sun and stars where the temperature is extremely high, release light due to nuclear fusion process.
In this process, two hydrogen nuclei combine to form a helium nucleus and resulting in that a large amount of energy is released. This energy is nothing, but that energy is the receiving energy of the sun in the form of light.
Conclusion:
Thus, the sun is powered by nuclear fusion.
