The way in which the nose functions in the respiratory system.
Concept introduction:
Nose contains the air cavity which allows the movement of the air. The lining of the nose cavity contains a layer of the epithelial cells which secrete mucus and prevent the growth of the bacteria and other micro-organisms in this region. The sense of smell is transferred from the nose through the sensory neurons to the brain which receives the stimulus.
