Chapter 3.13, Problem 2PQ
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Gate-control theory explains the process of pain sensation. In this theory, first pain has to pass through the gates located in the spinal cord. These pain stimuli are hindered by non-painful stimuli by shutting the gates for pain stimuli. This process closes the pathway of the central nervous system so that pain stimuli cannot reach the CNS. Thus, non- painful stimuli are able to suppress the pain.
