Chordates are deuterostomes, the embryo develops from mouth to anus. All chordates are coelomates, as they have liquid filled body pit known as coelom which is totally covered by peritoneum framed by mesoderm. Chordates have a notochord, dorsal tubular cord, pharyngeal pouches and post-anal tail as important characters.
