Sometimes the solution to a system is an ordered pair containing fractions. In such a case, it is often easier to solve for each coordinate separately using the addition method. That is, use the addition method to solve for x. then, rather than substituting x back into one of the original equations, repeat the addition method and solve for y. For exercises 59- 61, solve each system.

- Write a uniform motion problem similar to Example 5.42 that relates to where you live with your friends or family members. Then translate to a system of equations and solve it.arrow_forwardUsing the method of addition, is there only one way to solve the system?arrow_forwardSolve the system of equations by either the addition method or the subtitution method. Express numbers as integers or decimals. -0.1x+0.1y=0.2 0.1x+0.1y=0.1 The solution set is( , )arrow_forward
- Is 0,5 a system of equationsarrow_forwardsolve each system of equations using the methodof substitution or the method of elimination. If the system has no solution, say that it is inconsistentarrow_forwardIs it possible for a system of equations composed of a linear function and a quadratic function to have 3 solutions? Select the answer. A It is possible for a system of equations composed of a linear function and a quadratic function to have 3 solutions. B It is not possible for a system of equations composed of a linear function and a quadratic function to have 3 solutions.arrow_forward
- Layla is a high school basketball player. In a particular game, she made some three point shots and some two point shots. Layla scored a total of 24 points and made twice as many three point shots as two point shots. Graphically solve a system of equations in order to determine the number of three point shots made, x,x, and the number of two point shots made, yy.arrow_forwardFind all solutions of the given system of equations and check your answer graphically. (If there is no solution, enter NO SOLUTION. If the system is dependent, express your answer in terms of x, where y = y(x).) x + y = 34 x − y = 18 (x, y) =arrow_forwardIs (20,52) a solution to the system of equations below? Show your work. y = 0.75x + 37 y = 1.5x + 22arrow_forward
