Question
Chapter 3.4, Problem 23CC
Summary Introduction
To determine: Whether the intestinal epithelium cell which releases its secretion into the extracellular fluid is an endocrine cell or exocrine cell.
Introduction: A bunch of secretory cells combines to form endocrine or exocrine glands. When the embryo is developing, epithelial cells grow and attach to connective tissues beneath it. After development, exocrine cells remain attached to the connective cells whereas endocrine glands detach and release hormones directly into the blood.

A general principle of physiology is that structure is a determinant of—and has coevolved with—function. One example highlighted in this chapter is the large surface area provided by the villous and microvillous structure of the cells lining the small intestine
Will a fat cell have a more or less developed rough endoplasmic reticulum than a pancreatic cell? Why?
The smooth muscle cells are arranged in two different ways in intestinal wall. Explain the significance of two different arrangements of smooth muscle cells in intestinal wall i.e. how these arrangements relate to the function.
