Chapter 3.4, Problem 24WDYL
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The importance of NADH and FADH2 in energy transfer.

Concept introduction:

Energy currency of cell or ATP is formed by three pathways. The first is glycolysis in which there is breakdown of glucose to form two molecules of ATP and two molecules of NADH but there is no molecule of FADH2 that is formed. The second pathway is the TCA cycle or the Krebs’ cycle in which there is formation of 2 molecules of ATP along with 6 molecules of NADH and two molecules of FADH2 . In the last step, there is no formation of NADH and FADH2 , but 34 molecules of ATP.
