Introduction: The lungfishes and coelacanths have close evolutionary connections with tetrapods. They are the connecting link between the fishes and tetrapods. The lungfishes were evolved in the freshwater and have lungs to help them breath in the oxygen-deficient environment like damp marshes. The coelacanth group of fishes earlier had lungs, but as they migrated to the marine habitat they evolved, lost their lungs.
