Three structures that filters the air through the nasal passage.

  1. Hair: the nasal passage way starts from the nose, where the entrance is covered by a network of fine air. This network act as a mechanical filter for avoiding the entrance for bigger dust particles.
  2. Cilia and turbulence: the sir coming in through the passage encounter a series of cilia which create a turbulence in the air. This causes the heating of the air coming and might kill some pathogen due to the heat.
  3. Mucus: The heavy particles and the microbes are trapped by the mucosal lining of the lungs, so that the cannot harm by entering the blood vessels.
