To describe:
The processes by which the adaptive immune system works, including humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity.
Introduction:
Adaptive immunity is also known as an acquired immune system. It is a selective immunity in which B or T lymphocytes are involved. During the first exposure of antigen, these lymphocytes undergo division which results in the formation of plasma cell and memory cells. The plasma cells contain antibodies that provide immunity against the infection and the memory cells retain the memory of the first exposure of antigen. Due to this, the response of adaptive immunity during the second exposure to the same antigen is quick and fast.
To determine:
The reason why the helper T cells are so important in the adaptive immune response.
Introduction:
The adaptive immune system is present throughout the body by the presence of specific cells at certain locations. It involves immune cells, tissues and organs and some secretary proteins. Adaptive immune response is a highly effective response that can kill a wide variety of microbes. It is composed of highly specialized and systematic cells. It causes the removal of microbes and prevents the growth of microbes throughout the body.
