Summary Introduction

The effect on sensation on the fingers, if a person had an accident that severed a small nerve required to move some of the fingers of the right hand.

Introduction:

Humans have elongated and bilaterally symmetrical body with specialized nervous system which consists of neurons axons bundles which together form the nerves and these nerves extend in the body and communicate with the cells of the body. The integration of neurons is included under the central nervous system and the travelling of information in and out of the central nervous system by neurons form peripheral nervous system. Spinal cord and brain together form central nervous system and in peripheral nervous system, ganglia and nerves act as key element.

WHAT IF? If a woman with a severed corpus callosumviewed a photograph of a familiar face, first in her leftfield of vision and then in her right field, why would shefind it difficult to put a name to the face?
WHAT IF? Suppose a series of pressure waves in yourcochlea caused a vibration of the basilar membrane thatmoves gradually from the apex toward the base. Howwould your brain interpret this stimulus?
Your cortex decodes incoming action potentials from sensory pathways. How does it tell the difference between hot and cold? Between cool and cold? Between ice on your finger and ice on your foot?
