The animal mating system in which both the sexes have only a single mate for the lifetime is called monogamy. After mating and production of young ones, providing parental care to the individuals becomes important. Some animals do not provide any parental care to the young ones whereas in some cases both the parents cooperate in providing care or sometimes only one parent is involved in providing care to the young ones.
