Chapter 39.3, Problem 4CC
Summary Introduction
If sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as gonorrhea left untreated may lead to highly complicated health problems in both men and women. Gonorrhea may cause pelvic inflammatory disease, in women, if untreated, it may spread to the circulatory system and cause disseminated gonococcal infection. Untreated gonorrhea, in females, may lead to a chronic condition known as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). The PID may cause infertility in female. In male, gonorrhea can cause painful urethral canal infection and puslike discharge of urethra. It also causes damage to joint tissue and heart valve, in both men and women.
