Router:

• Router is a device or system used to forward the packets to other networks and between the networks.
• It connects two or more networks together and allows transferring the data between different networks. It provides the information about the next hop that is nearest to the destination.
  • It uses a routing table to provide information about the path to the destination.
  • Routing table contains the information about the shortest path from source to destination.
