The ovary releases one egg every month. The egg moves to the fallopian tube by the beating of the cilia, in the epithelial cells of the tubes. During sexual intercourse, the vaginal tract receives about 200 million sperm.Most of the sperm die by vaginal acid or drain out of the female reproductive tract. Only a few sperm pass through the female reproductive tract to reach the egg, sperms have to travel to the fallopian tube for fertilization.
