To explain: The two major layers of the dermis and its components.
Introduction: The major organ of the integumentary system is the skin. The skin alone makes up about 16% of the total body. The skin is a watertight material that protects and avoids the entry of any microbes, and it also known as the body’s first line of defence. The skin is the region where the body communicates with the external environment.
Explanation of Solution
The two major layers of the dermis are the papillary layer and reticular layer. The papillary layer is made up of loose connective tissues and consists of lymphatic vessels, capillaries, and sensory neurons. The reticular layer is made of dense irregular connective tissue and collagen bundles and consists of nerve fibers, accessory organs, lymphatic vessels, and blood vessels. Both the layers have blood vessel network, sensory neurons, and lymphatic vessels.
