The mechanism by which genetic information is carried from nucleus to the cytoplasm.

Introduction:

Genetic information refers to the correct sequence that determines the polypeptide chain of a protein. The process of formation of protein from RNA (ribonucleic acid) is known as translation. The process of translation takes place in the ribosome, where mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) is translated into proteins.

Genetic code contains codons (nucleotide triplets) that specify the amino acid to be added by the tRNA (transfer ribonucleic acid) in the translation of proteins. A codon consisting of three nucleotides represents a single amino acid that would be added in the protein synthesis.
