Question
Chapter 4, Problem 3FIO
Summary Introduction
To determine: Whether the pathway is a cyclic or a linear.
Introduction: Metabolic pathways are defined as a series of enzymatic reactions in which the rearranging, breaking down, and building of organic substances take place in a stepwise manner. The metabolic pathways may be cyclic or linear. In linear pathways, the reactions occur straight from a reactant or substrate to a product. In the cyclic pathway, the reactant of the first step is regenerated in the last step.

Part A: Say that a cell is running a metabolic pathway that follows the same pattern as the diagram and something happens that prevents enzyme 3 from reacting normally. Of the following options, which one is the end result of this interrupted metabolic pathway?
Part B: for this reaction to be an example of feedback inhibition, the ____ would have to be blocking enzyme 3.
Answer choices:
• pH
• Product
• Salinity
