The time between conception and birth is called the prenatal period. The process ofprenataldevelopmentoccursin three mainstages. Thefirsttwo weeks after conception are known as the germinalstage, the third through the eighth week is known as theembryonic period, and thetimefrom the ninth week untilbirthis known as thefetal period.
