Question
Chapter 4, Problem 4.2A
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Using the MSD's data considered by various companies, the percentage of styrene in the various brands of polyester resin should be determined. Also, some of the companies have reduced the amount of the monomeric styrene in the resin the reason which should be stated as well.
Concept Introduction:
Material safety data sheet (MSD's) is the detailed technical explanation of products. It contains the following components:
- Purchase of any hazardous material.
- Includes the meaning of hazardous materials.
Preparation of material safety data sheet uses the following order of section:
- Product identification along with its company.
- Information of ingredients with respect to the composition.
- Measures taken for accidental release of hazardous material.
- Physical and chemical properties of material.
- Regulatory information.
Polyester resin is the solution of polyesters in the monomer usually known as Styrene. The amount of styrene in polyester helps it in reducing the viscosity of polyesters resin.
