Introduction: Vertebrates comprise all species of animals within the subphylum Vertebrata. The body of animals have up to four levels of organization. It includes cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. Depending on the animal group, the body can be made up of only a few cell types as in sponges or of over 200 cell types, as in mammals.
