John and Cathy have normal color vision. After 10 years of their marriage, Cathy gives birth to a color-blind daughter. John files for divorce, claiming he is not the father of the child. Is John justified in his claim of non-paternity.

Introduction:

Color-blindness or color vision deficiency is an inherited condition that affects males more frequently than females. Red-green color blindness is the common form of color-blindness. This disease occurs when light-sensitive cells in the retina fail to respond to the variations in wavelength of lights that enable people to see an array of colors.

If Cathy had given birth to a color-blind son, would John be justified in claiming non-paternity of the color-blind son.

Introduction:

The most common reason for color blindness is an inherited problem in the development of one or more of the three sets of color sensing cones in the eyes. Males have more chances to be color blind than females, as the genes responsible for the most common forms of color blindness are on the X chromosome.
