How does a heart pump resemble a refrigeration system?
The similarity between a heat pump and a refrigeration system.
Explanation of Solution
Heat pump is a mechanical-compression refrigeration system used to either heat or cool a controlled space. It is a reverse refrigeration cycle where the heat pump absorbs heat from a cold space and releasing it to a warmer one. They can absorb heat from the outdoor air in the winter and reject heat to the indoors. Since the heat pump has the advantage to pump heat into as well as out of a system, this system helps to provide both heating and cooling effects. The valve is used to redirect the suction and discharge gas at proper time to provide heat or cooling. By reversing the mode of operation, the indoor and outdoor coil changes their functions as well. Thus, the heat pumps resemble as a refrigeration machine.
In the cooling mode, the indoor coil works as an evaporator and outdoor coil functions as a condenser. In the heating mode, indoor coil functions as the condenser and the outdoor coil acts as an evaporator.
