These activities ultimately increase the amount of pollutants in the environment. The main pollutants are various toxic gases such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, chlorofluorocarbon, and nitrogen oxide. There are some chemical pollutants that became stored in the process of bioaccumulation. There are some pollutants that increase in concentration as they pass up a food chain, by biological magnification.
