Chapter 48, Problem 7SQ
Summary Introduction

Introduction: The ozone shield that is present in the Earth’s stratosphere absorbs most of the ultraviolet radiation. At this layer, the concentration of ozone (O3) is high when compared to the other regions of the atmosphere. There are some toxic gases that affect the ozone layer. When this gases rise upwards, they are exposed to the UV light leading to a chemical reaction and thereby creating chlorine atom. This leads to the destruction of ozone atom as well as ozone layer.
