Concept introduction: The attachment site of two or more bones is known as a joint or an articulation. The function of the joints is to provide stability and mobility to the skeleton. The joints are classified on the based on the type of tissue involved- fibrous, cartilaginous, and synovial joints. The movements of the body are explained in terms of planes they pass through including frontal, transverse, and sagittal planes.
