Suggested response

Some people may deliberately seek situations that trigger thrill or fear because the brain releases certain chemicals, which are cause happiness. Hormones such as dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin, and endorphins are responsible for this thrill-seeking behavior.

Another consideration might be that people tend to go for activities and tasks that are challenging, thrilling, and dangerous because their brains have low-arousal levels. The brains of such people require external stimulation, and therefore, they find themselves taking up exhilarating tasks, such as bungee jumping or roller-coaster rides.

People put themselves in dangerous circumstances for many reasons, but one underlying factor is that they feel that they are in control of themselves and will accept the consequences. They would not go for things that actually put their life at risk, but choose to do what is thrilling, yet safe in some way.
