Concept explainers
To explain: The domain in which algae, protozoa, and cyanobacteria are classified.
Introduction: A domain is a taxon in the highest rank of living organism compared to a kingdom. There are three types of domain, namely eukaryota, archaea, and bacteria. There are diverse microorganisms present in the pond water, for example, algae, protozoa, and the cyanobacteria.
Explanation of Solution
The microorganism is classified into eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Cyanobacteria, also termed as blue-green algae, are unicellular organism in the domain bacteria, a prokaryotic organism. However, the domain of protozoa and algae is eukarya, which includes eukaryotic organisms. The eukaryotic organisms possess membrane-bound organelles like a nucleus.
