Chapter 5, Problem 2CT
Summary Introduction
To review:
The reason as to why the chances of greenstick fracture in a child are more than that in an adult.
Introduction:
The greenstick fracture is a fracture of the limb bone. This occurs due to unwanted bending of the bone beyond its capability. The bone cracks, but not get separated into pieces. This is similar to breaking a green young twig of a tree.
Greenstick fracture mainly occurs in children under 10 years of age. The child experiences severe pain and the area swells up due to the fracture. Sometimes this fracture may be confused with sprains.
