To determine:
The reason that the older people are not able to tolerate the summer heat as well as they did when they were young, and they are more prone to heat-related illnesses.
Concept introduction:
The skin of the older persons becomes dry with development of the scales. The skin contains glands like the sudorific or the sweat glands. The sweat glands secrete liquid water. The sebaceous glands secrete lipid called as sebum. In old age, the glands get destroyed and damaged. The secretions are produced during the extreme temperature conditions of heat. The old patients are not able to tolerate the conditions and are prone to develop heat related illnesses. The eccrine sweat glands are damaged in the old age in the skin cells.
