Endergonic reaction describes the net input of free energy to proceed, while exergonic reaction describes the reaction that ends with a net release of free energy. Gibbs free energy for the exergonic reaction is negative and for endergonic reaction, it is positive. In a process called catalysis, the enzyme makes a reaction faster than its own. The enzyme remains unaffected in this reaction.
