Question
Chapter 5, Problem 5.4PAE
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The reason for the measurement of the level VOCs in order to understand air pollution although they are non-criteria pollutants should be explained
Concept Introduction:
- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for six common air pollutants. These common air pollutants are also known as criteria pollutants; hence they are measured to understand the healthy condition of air. These six criteria pollutants are as follows-
- Ground-level ozone
- Carbon monoxide
- Sulfur oxides
- Nitrogen oxides
- Lead
- Particle Pollution (particulate matter).
- VOCs (Volatile organic Compounds) are not actually a criteria pollutants, still measured to understand air pollutants.
