Chapter 5.10, Problem 3PQ
Summary Introduction

Animals generally learn different types of behavior using operant conditioning, but not all animals can be taught anything. Keller and Marian Breland conducted their study on a raccoon and found that the operant conditioning seems to fail in raccoon, and it is not limited only to the raccoon. The same difficulty was also found in pig that was being trained to grab a total of five large wooden coins and place them into a piggy bank. This type of behavior response in animals is termed as “instinctive drift”.
